How to Access Counselling at New Possibilities

Brief and longer-term counselling and therapy is offered to individuals, couples and families.

Hours of Operation

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8.30am - 6.00pm
Thursday 8.30am – 8.30pm
Saturdays 9.00am – 3.00pm

Each session is for a full hour, except the initial session for couples, where a one and a half hour session is recommended for best practice.

Fees Information

There is a flat rate fee of $160.00 per one-hour session, for both individuals and couples. If you choose to pay your fee at the time there is an automatic $20.00 reduction. Please note the service currently has no credit card or EFTPOS facilities.

There is a surcharge of $10.00 for each and every session held from 5.00pm on any evening and for all sessions held on a Saturday.

In most circumstances a fee will be charged for missed appointments and late cancellations. The writing of professional reports is charged at an hourly rate.

'Better Access GP Mental Health Care' Scheme

If you are referred by your general practitioner to New Possibilities under this scheme, the fee is $170.00 for each one hour session with an automatic $20.00 reduction if the account is paid at the time. The Medicare rebate for each session is $75.00 up to a maximum of six sessions. Your GP can occasionally authorise a further four sessions with same rebate. To view details, click here.

Private Health Fund Rebate

If you are a member of the Medibank Private health fund a rebate may be available. You will need to check with Medibank Private to ascertain if this applies to your particular membership.

New Possibilities Counselling is situated in a small, discrete block of individual professional units in Nedlands, Perth, Western Australia. Free car park and street parking is plentiful.

Unit 3, 20 Leura St. is a five minute walk from the bus-stops for the main entrance of University of Western Australia on Stirling Highway.
